Monarch Butterflies Visiting My Garden

I've had a few visits from Monarchs lately but this time I had my phone in my pocket so I got to take a photo of two travelling together and getting some nectar from my coneflowers which they need for their migration.  The ones that we are seeing now and heading south are one generation.  Several generations later these amazing beauties make their way back to their breeding sites.

Dragonfly Earrings

Inspired by the dragonflies zooming around my yard this summer, I made these earrings today with copper wire and I'll soon be photographing and listing them in my Etsy Shop.

Simple Handmade Crosses

I've made a number of crosses with copper wire and intend on making some earrings with them.  I'm thinking asymmetrical earrings.  At the moment I can't decide whether to make ear wires or posts.  Perhaps I'll do both.

Consistently Inconsistent

As Jonathan Swift would say: There is nothing constant in this world but inconsistency. Yep, I'm inconsistent with my blog entries.....In the meantime.....these are earrings that I was working on the other day and will soon be listing in my Etsy shop . Made with green iridescent Czech seed beads and copper wire, they are fun, lightweight, earthy summer time earrings.

Visiting Dragonfly - Autumn Meadowhawk

I had the pleasure of this little visitor yesterday afternoon - although he didn't stay around for long.  I think this is a male Autumn Meadowhawk.  He is a smaller dragonfly with a red body and iridescent wings.  He rested on my knee for close to a minute then flew away.  It was a nice calming visit with nature that I really enjoyed.

Giant Black Swallowtail Butterfly

The largest of all North American butterflies paid a visit to our garden yesterday. It was in an awkward spot for me to capture with my phone.  I tried to get in closer but disturbed its rest and it flew away.
