Last Year's Grass Aglow

This picture is based on a photo taken on the same day in early March as “Impending Spring” and tries, in a more focussed way, to again make something out of bland, beige, post-winter bleakness.  This bleakness was less evident here relative to the wider visible landscape captured in “Impending Spring”.  But the challenge of stretching and exaggerating what few colours were there remained the same.  In this case, the backlit clump of grass now shows a vibrant, happy glow, almost like burning embers (or possibly maple syrup candy?), that has great symbolic value: the charging of the batteries and the powering of new growth.

As in “Impending Spring” and a few other pictures on this site, the beauty is, and will be more and more, in the details.  It can’t be shown here (or on the web in general, for that matter) except as a close-up crop, so the only way you can truly share the experience is by purchasing a large print.

OK, that’s it - we’ve blown the marketing/advertising budget for the year.
