Vintage Appliqué Tablecloth and Napkins
This is a really fun find. Apparently, appliqué flowers that were accented with embroidery work were a novelty in the 1930s. This bridge tablecloth and 4 napkins are all hand sewn appliqué and embroidery. The picture really doesn't do it justice. There are 16 squares of wheat/buff linen that make up the tablecloth all stitched together by hand in a contrasting dark brown thread and the crazy flowers and open leaves are all stitched by hand too. It's a quirky piece - it has an element of eccentricity to it! There are no holes, but there are some stains from being in storage. A nice gentle washing should get rid of them. Since this is a bridge tablecloth and small, try layering it over a plain blue tablecloth for a really cute look. Tablecloth measures 33"x33-1/2" and there are 4 napkins that measure 8"x8". $22.00 CDN.
