Trench Art – Bullet Crucifix A relative brought this piece back home from France (Ypres - on the stamp above the crucifix) during wartime and it's been on my mother's book shelf until now. This is trench art. Some trench art was made by soldiers – some by prisoners of war, some by civilians as a means of survival. There was a great deal of hardship during the post war period. Farm land was devastated, as well as towns and villages by the constant shelling – but it provided a lot of matériel for trench art – which was sold to the soldiers (both Allied and German armies). It is in excellent condition - no dents or scratches. This piece is 6" in height. $52.00 CDN. I will only ship this piece within Canada. Here's a link to a great site about trench art and it's history. |
